Tips for sticking to your New Year’s fitness resolutions

We’ve managed to make it through January, yet the evenings are still dark and short and the weather’s still wintry, which can make staying motivated a real challenge.

Have you started your fitness plan four or five times this year already? Or perhaps you’ve been planning to restart your fitness regime on Monday, but haven’t got round to it just yet?

Either way, sticking to your New Year’s resolutions can be easier said than done, especially when you’ve got lots of other things to find time for too. Read on for three top tips aimed at helping you stay on track and achieve your fitness goals, once and for all.

TIP 1: Focus on just one thing at a time

It’s hardly surprising you’re struggling to get motivated if you’ve given yourself a million and one fitness objectives to hit, such as improving your eating, starting training, drinking more water.

Focusing on just one thing at a time is a more manageable way of meeting your goals, you can always then change something new the following week (if you want).

Making one small change at a time and implementing it over time allows you to adjust. You don’t feel like you’re giving up too much and before you know it you’ve made a stack of healthy changes.

TIP 2: Get an accountability partner

Think about getting an accountability partner, who’ll be able to champion your progress and help keep you motivated at all times. It’s an incredibly powerful tactic that’s more effective than most people think.

All of The Studio’s bootcampers and Studio members support each other and help each other along on their fitness journeys. It’s also good to have somebody to lean on occasionally!

TIP 3: Stay focused (no matter how hard things get!

As easy as it can be to get overwhelmed by your fitness goals, don’t let this happen, step back and focus on one thing at a time. Start now, by picking one thing and sticking with it all week. And when you’ve achieved it, make sure you take the time to congratulate yourself before focusing on your next goal.
