Mastering weightlifting at our Women’s Strength Training Masterclass
When you think about weight training what image flashes up in your mind?
Is it muscle-bound men with bulging biceps? Or bodybuilders flexing their pecks?
Well, here at The Studio, it’s a totally different image…
…because all of our weightlifters are women!
We’ve launched a brand new Strength Training Programme, especially for women because, believe it or not, weightlifting isn’t something that a) men do and b) only benefits men.
There are lots of ways women can benefit from lifting weights, especially if they’re fed up of struggling to lose weight using more traditional methods. It can also help women who are going through or who have been through the menopause.
Our recent masterclass attracted a really mix of ages and fitness levels. Some women had never done weight training before and some had. The women were all paired up so that they met somebody new and had someone to work with.
We started with some warm up exercises to prepare everybody for the workout. We then focused on our technique, practiced some moves and selected the most appropriate weight. Then, it was time for everybody to get lifting with their partners!
The session was a huge success, there was a huge buzz in the room and everybody really supported each other. The masterclass attracted all sorts of positive feedback, including these little snippets:
‘I surprised myself as I am stronger than I thought I was, I will need to up my weights next week.’
‘Thanks Nicki, I loved it, right up my street and I can’t wait for next week.’
‘What an amazing strength training class tonight – loved, loved, loved it.’
We even had one lady, who’s over the age of 60, who was particularly pleased with her performance – she managed to squat and deadlift 25kg!
Does this sound like the sort of thing you’d like to get involved in? Our next 8 week course will start in January 2018. For further information or to book your place, email Nicki at email@example.com.
